Trained as architects with a focus on interiors, William Brockschmidt and Richard Dragisic have been traveling to Sicily for over twenty years where they have restored a unique home, Casa Grotta, in the baroque city of Modica. The duo has created a unique shop in New Orleans, a city with its own rich Sicilian history.

Sud reveals another side of Sicily, evoking the rich layering of Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Arab, Norman, Spanish, and Italian influences found in the heart of the Mediterranean. Long captivated by the region’s design exuberance, the couple has amassed a collection of antiques as well as contemporary pieces by artisans who are developing new styles within the old craft traditions particular to southern Italy. Curated works by American artists inspired by ancient Magna Graecia and the Kingdom of Two Sicilies accentuate the mezzogiorno atmosphere.

Sud has been featured in Veranda, Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, Galerie Magazine, Flower Magazine, Gambit, and New Orleans Homes. Casa Grotta was featured in Elle Decor.

Sud was included in Architectural Digest’s list of 40 Best Home Decor Stores in America, House Beautiful’s list of Best Home Stores in America, and Veranda’s list of Best Designer-owned Shops.
